Looking inside the modern new home of Grietje
Grietje is an interior designer, interior styling teacher and coach for interior professionals. She lives with her husband, son and daughter in a modern new-build house from 2008. In addition to all her busy work, she enjoys dance lessons, time with friends and the peace of her lovely home. For a few years now, Grietje has been sharing her interior inspiration via Instagram, an important platform for interior professionals.
A unique and sleek interior
As the first residents of their new-build home, Grietje was given the opportunity to furnish everything entirely to her own taste. She describes her style as a mix of sleek design, natural colours and vintage elements. "It is a hodgepodge that is always in balance." Technically, Grietje follows all trends closely, but personally she prefers sustainable choices.

An important element in the interior is the custom-made windowsill, which plays a permanent role in the design. "The bench has had many different places over the years, depending on the life phase of the children. But since the windowsill was installed, the layout has remained stable.
The perfect choice: corner sofa Nord
When looking for a new sofa, Grietje's eye immediately fell on the Nord corner sofa. "The sleek design and sturdy seat immediately stood out in the showroom. For us, the choice was quickly made." The corner sofa in the color Jungle Green fits perfectly with her interior. The incidence of light creates beautiful shades from sometimes very green to sometimes somewhat grayer.
In addition to the design, Grietje also appreciates the quality of the sofa. "We've had it for a year now, and it still looks like new. The fabric remains beautiful and the seat is sturdy. The delivery was also ideal: it was fully assembled in the house.
Favorite places and inspiration
A favourite spot in the house is the corner of the sofa under the reading lamp. Relax with a book or do some work. In addition, the custom-made windowsill is a showpiece, as is the painting behind the sofa by HKliving and her plants. Grietje draws inspiration from nature and art.m "I let the colours from outside - such as the brown tones of our beech hedge - return in the interior. Museums and architecture books also inspire me."
Future interior plans
Although the house is beautiful, there are still plenty of plans. A new wall cupboard has been designed and the kitchen will get a new colour. On the wish list is an oval dining table with a bench, which will provide more seating.
"Custom work provides peace of mind and makes a house unique."
Tips from Grietje
For those who want to furnish their living room, Grietje has valuable tips: "Combine styles, but ensure repetition in colours, shapes and materials. That creates balance. Also think about sight lines in your home: where does your gaze fall most often? Hang art in places that match this, so that everything fits nicely into the whole."
