Larissa lives with her family in a lovely newly built home by the water. She designed the garden herself, and once it was exactly how she wanted it, there was still one thing missing: a lounge sofa.

Larissa’s garden may not be very large, but the space is used to its fullest. Behind the house flows a canal, and the terrace faces south, so the garden enjoys sunshine all year round. It was important, therefore, to design the space in a way that’s both functional and stylish. “The ground here settles quickly, so the terrace had to be built on piles,” Larissa explains. The garden features plenty of greenery, a dining area on the terrace, and of course, a lounge spot where you can peacefully enjoy outdoor living.

Trends and Personal Choices
Garden trends change quickly, and Larissa always keeps up with the latest developments. Curved shapes and sunken seating areas are all the rage right now. “With the knowledge I have now, I definitely would have integrated a sunken lounge into my garden.”
Still, the choice to add a veranda at the back of the garden. Perfect for lounging is perhaps more timeless.
“Trends come and go, but a well-designed space will always look beautiful.”
