From New-Build Garden to Inviting Outdoor place

A newly built home offers a unique opportunity: you start with a blank canvas, both indoors and out. Nicole moved into a new house with her family and embraced that opportunity wholeheartedly. Their vision was clear: a garden that feels just as welcoming as the interior and where they would love to spend time at any hour of the day.

Outdoors as an Extension of the Home

For Nicole, it was clear from the outset that the garden would become just as important as the living room. The house is located on the edge of the woods in the southeastern part of the Utrecht region, and she wanted to carry that tranquil setting through to her own garden. Together with a stylist, she created a plan in which the indoor and outdoor spaces flow seamlessly into one another.By SIDDE - Outdoorbank Sol - Sand

A palette of beige tones and natural materials creates a serene atmosphere, while warm orange accents add character. In this way, the garden truly feels like an extension of the interior.

“When I come home, I immediately feel at ease. We wanted to create that same feeling outdoors.”

Following the Sun

The entire design revolved around how the garden would be used. Nicole wanted a pleasant place to sit at any time of day. That is why several seating areas were created, both in the sun and in the shade.
On beautiful mornings, she enjoys sitting at the back of the garden with a cup of coffee. Later in the day, the family moves to the terrace by the house. Thanks to the flexible layout, they can easily follow the sun.
The borders are filled with flowers that attract bees and regularly provide bouquets for indoors. In this way, the garden quite literally brings colour into the home.

“I love being able to pick flowers from my own garden. It makes it feel extra personal.”

The Sol Lounge Sofa

While searching for a new designer sofa, Nicole came across By SIDDE. They initially visited the showroom in search of an indoor sofa, but fell in love with the Sol outdoor lounge sofa. They chose the modular sofa in the colour Sand and added a separate module that serves as an extra seat. This makes it easy to create additional seating whenever friends or family come by. Because the sofa is lightweight, they regularly move the arrangement to different spots in the garden, allowing them to make the most of the evening sun. For Nicole, that flexibility was the deciding factor. A modular sofa adapts to the way you live, rather than the other way around.

“We saw Sol and were sold immediately.”

Nicole’s Garden Tips

A beautiful garden starts with a smart layout. First, observe how the sun moves through your garden during the day and decide where you would like to relax, dine, or enjoy a cup of coffee.

Then choose a calm foundation of natural materials. This keeps the garden timeless and allows you to add atmosphere and colour easily with flowers and accessories. A modular lounge sofa also offers the flexibility to adapt the layout to the season, the sun, or a gathering of friends.

“First look at how you truly use your garden. Once that foundation is right, all the other choices fall into place much more easily.”
